The/Nudge End Ultra Poverty Program
The End Ultra Poverty (EUP) program of The/Nudge Institute utilizes the Graduation Approach model towards elimination of ultra-poverty in India. The EUP program combines careful targeting, living stipends, nutrition, training, livelihood development, market linkages, and regular mentoring.
First prototyped in the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) in 3 districts in the state of Jharkhand in India, The/Nudge’s EUP program worked with 1200 Households and has demonstrated significant improvement across the dimensions of livelihood incomes, nutrition & food security, skills, confidence, and in arresting distress migration.
The results spurred the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society, a state government department of the state’s Ministry of Rural Development to launch the implementation of this program across all districts of Jharkhand in partnership with The/Nudge.
In addition, with the support of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission of the central Ministry of Rural Development, more states (Rajasthan, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya, and West Bengal) have stepped forward and invited The/Nudge to start implementing this program in their ultra-poor communities.
